Tapo Wired Doorbell Camera Package
The wired Tapo doorbell takes power from an existing chime circuit or a low-voltage transformer, which removes the single largest limitation of every battery doorbell: it never has to sleep to save power.
The practical consequence is continuous recording. A battery doorbell wakes on motion, takes a moment to start recording, and captures a clip. A wired doorbell has already been recording. The person who approached from an angle the sensor did not cover is still in the archive, because the archive never stopped.
Everything else — the 5MP ultra-wide sensor, night vision, two-way audio, remote viewing and playback — matches the wireless unit. What you gain is the continuous timeline. What you spend is the one-off effort of getting power to the door.
A wired doorbell camera records 24 hours a day. A battery-powered doorbell only records when motion wakes it, which means anything that happens before the sensor triggers is never captured. If you want a complete, gap-free record of what happens outside your door, the wired unit is the one to choose.

What makes a door suitable for a wired doorbell
The question is always where the power comes from. Landed homes and many condominiums already have a chime circuit at the door, which makes this a straightforward swap. Most HDB doors do not, so we run a low-voltage supply from inside the flat through the door frame, concealed in casing. It is a short job, but it is the part that decides whether a wired doorbell is sensible for your door. Send us a photo of the door frame and we can tell you before we come out.
Continuous recording and storage
Continuous recording generates far more footage than motion clips. That is the point, but it does mean the storage option you pick at installation determines how far back your archive reaches. We size it around how long you actually want to look back — for most homes, thirty days is the sensible target.
Frequently asked
Do I need HDB approval?
No. Doorbell cameras installed at your own unit do not require HDB approval.
What if there is no existing doorbell wiring?
We run a concealed low-voltage supply from inside your flat. This is included in the installation.
Is the video quality different from the wireless model?
No. The sensor and optics are equivalent. The difference is that the wired unit records continuously.
