Ceiling AP / Mesh Wi-Fi
Consumer routers broadcast from wherever the fibre terminates, which is usually a cupboard in a corner. Ceiling access points broadcast from the middle of the ceiling, downwards, which is where the people are. That single change in geometry does more for coverage than any amount of spending on the router.
A properly designed deployment places several access points across a floor, all sharing one network name. Devices roam between them without dropping the connection, so a video call survives a walk from the meeting room to the desk.
Load is the other half of the problem. A single access point handling forty devices in an open-plan office is not short of signal, it is short of airtime. More access points, each serving fewer clients at lower transmit power, produce a faster network than one powerful unit shouting across the floor.

Mesh is a fallback, not a design goal
A mesh access point relays its traffic wirelessly to another access point, which means it spends its airtime twice: once talking to clients, once talking upstream. Throughput roughly halves per hop. Mesh is the right answer when running a cable is genuinely impossible. It is the wrong answer when running a cable is merely inconvenient, and the difference shows up on every speed test thereafter.
More access points at lower power
The instinct is to turn transmit power up. This makes coverage look better on a survey and makes the network worse in use, because clients cling to a distant access point they can hear but cannot talk back to efficiently. Better networks are built from more access points running quieter, so devices hand off promptly to the nearest one.
