Hikvision IP POE CCTV Package
An IP PoE system runs a single Cat6 cable to each camera, carrying both power and video. There is no separate power adapter at the camera, no reliance on Wi-Fi, and no compression loss between the camera and the recorder.
This is the system we install when the footage has to be reliable rather than merely present. Every camera holds a dedicated wired path to the NVR, so a congested wireless network, a neighbour's interference, or a router reboot cannot interrupt recording.
Cameras are IP67 rated for permanent outdoor mounting and IK08 rated against impact. H.265+ compression roughly halves the storage footprint compared to older codecs, which is what makes sixty days of continuous recording practical on a 1TB drive.

A desktop hard disk is engineered for eight hours a day of intermittent use. A surveillance recorder writes continuously, twenty-four hours a day, for years. WD Purple drives are built for that duty cycle and for the sustained sequential writes that video produces. Fitting a desktop drive to an NVR does not fail immediately, which is precisely the problem — it fails eighteen months later, silently, and you find out when you need the footage.
IP versus analog, in one paragraph
IP cameras send digital video over network cable to an NVR. Analog cameras send an analog signal over coaxial cable to a DVR. IP gives you higher resolutions, cleaner cable runs and easier expansion. Analog is cheaper and reuses coaxial cable you may already have in the building. For a new installation with no existing cabling, IP is almost always the right answer.
Sizing the recorder
Buy the channel count you will need in three years, not the one you need today. The price difference between a 4 channel and an 8 channel NVR is small. The cost of replacing a full 4 channel NVR when you want a fifth camera is the whole recorder.

Up to 60 days or more of continuous recording, depending on the hard disk capacity, the number of cameras and the resolution you choose.
