Solar Powered CCTV
A solar CCTV unit is a self-contained system: a photovoltaic panel, a battery sized to carry the camera through the night and through consecutive overcast days, a 4G modem for connectivity, and the camera itself. Nothing is run to it.
This is the answer for worksites, perimeter fence lines, construction hoardings, remote gates, car parks under development and any position where getting mains power to the camera would cost more than the camera. It is also the answer for temporary deployments, because the whole assembly comes down as easily as it went up.
The engineering that matters is the battery, not the panel. Singapore has good irradiance but genuinely dark afternoons, and a system sized on average sunshine will drop out during a monsoon week. We size for the worst realistic case, not the average.

Panel orientation is worth an hour of care
A panel angled wrong loses a substantial fraction of its daily yield, and the loss compounds across a run of grey days until the battery cannot recover overnight. Near the equator the panel wants to be close to horizontal with a slight tilt for rain runoff, and it wants nothing shading it at any point in the day. A branch that casts a shadow for forty minutes each afternoon is a real problem, not a cosmetic one.
What to check before you assume solar is the answer
Solar is right when mains power is genuinely far away. If there is a socket within thirty metres, a wired camera on a cable run will be cheaper, more reliable and higher resolution. Solar earns its cost at distance, or at temporary sites, or where the trenching cost is prohibitive. We would rather tell you to run a cable than sell you a solar unit you did not need.
Frequently asked
How long does it run without sun?
We size the battery for consecutive overcast days rather than for average conditions. The exact figure depends on the camera, the recording mode and the panel we specify for your site.
Does it need a SIM card?
Yes. The unit uses a 4G data connection for remote viewing. We provision this during installation.
Can it be moved when the worksite moves?
Yes. The unit is designed to be demounted and redeployed as the works progress.
