Dahua IP POE CCTV Package

Dahua's IP range is the closest direct equivalent to Hikvision's, and in most respects the choice between them comes down to which app you prefer and which ecosystem the rest of your site already uses.

The engineering is the same in the ways that matter. A single Cat6 run carries power and video to each camera. The NVR records continuously to a surveillance-grade disk. H.265+ compression keeps sixty days of footage within a 1TB drive on a typical four camera install.

Where Dahua tends to have the edge is in wide dynamic range on high-contrast scenes — a doorway looking out onto bright daylight, for instance, where the interior would otherwise fall to black.

Choosing between Hikvision and Dahua

At the 2MP and 4MP consumer and light-commercial tiers, the two are close enough that the deciding factors are practical rather than technical: which mobile app your team finds easier, whether the site already standardises on one brand, and lead time. We install both and we have no incentive to push either. Tell us the site and we will tell you which one we would fit.

Do not mix recorders and cameras across brands

Both manufacturers support the ONVIF standard, so a Dahua camera will technically record to a Hikvision NVR. What you lose is every feature that lives outside the standard: smart detection, audio, some PTZ control, and firmware updates that assume matched hardware. Mixed installations work until the day they need to be debugged.

Do you install more than 4 cameras?

Can Dahua cameras be added to an existing Hikvision system?

Technically yes, through ONVIF, but we generally advise against it. Feature support becomes unpredictable and troubleshooting gets considerably harder.

How long is footage kept?

Up to 60 days or more, depending on hard disk capacity, camera count and the resolution you choose.
